Forces françaises de l'intérieur (FFI)

FFI

These are plastics by Caesar set H006 - Underground Resisters (Partisans)

I bought these ages back with the plan to expand my Volkssturm, but they have sat in a draw for ages because first off my Volkssturm project became buried by other projects I was working on and second I wasn`t really happy (as always) with the mix of weapons - too many SMGs (MP40s in this case) and only 3 figures with rifles.

Anyway after reading Paddy Ashdown`s book "The Cruel Victory", read my review here:

https://baberonwargames.blogspot.com/2025/10/the-cruel-victory-book-review.html

I started thinking about adding some FFI into my Free French forces.

These may never see tabletop, but you never know, the gem of an idea is forming 😁

Figure No3 has a Raventhorpe Adrian helmet head
Figure 2 has had his MP40 pruned away and a slung rifle added
All together - this photo includes a wagon driver (front right)

  1. Very nice. I have the same figures together with Irregular Miniatures for my to-be Battle of Vercors. Need some extra vehicles like yours now :)

  2. Cheers João, I`m not sure I`ll be aiming as high as recreating Vercors, but I do have the seed of an interesting game germinating. As for figures i was thinking I could re-use some of my SCW militia as Marqui too.

    1. That is a good idea. Im also thinking about placing a black beret in many of them and a Lorraine cross in the arm as a "uniform". Also ww1 French are useful maybe many without the Adrian helmet. Well, this is all your fault.

    2. I do wish manufacturers would think about weapons - more rifles, less SMGs and a bren or MG34 team would have been far more useful than 4 wounded guys or 4 guys with binoculars of detonator boxes..........

  3. A useful set of figures to have available.

    1. Thank you, they`ll make a different unit to see on a WW2 tabletop

  4. Very nice. Not sure I’d want to stand ‘em toe-to-toe to fight it out with regular Jerries though. I’d more be aiming to attack second-line units, transport/logistics etc or for ambushes in overwhelming numbers and then scarper quick.
    Cheers,
    Geoff

    1. Yep, exactly what I`ve been thinking, but I do have the seed of an idea brewing :)

    2. I vague recall someone (back in the day) made a few Milice miniatures. That might give a decent game, as neither side would be well disposed toward the other.
