Allied air-power

British fighter support

Three planes bought as scrap off Ebay for £6 total :)

Repaired, rockets and crop-tanks pruned away; new props carved out of plasticard, a new nose made from a pen top on one Hurricane; then all repainted, added odd decals from the bits box.

Not perfect, but none of my stuff is :) The Spitfire is painted a more NWE pattern, the two Hurricane for the desert (one is a fighter-bomber)

The Front Line

The Front Line

As some of you may know i like foreign films and have become quite enamored with Asian cinema.
For my birthday i bought myself a selection of movies one of which was "The Front Line" (2011)
The movie focuses on a CID officer sent to investigate whether there were spies and traitors within "Aligator" company after letters were discovered from North Korean soldiers sent to their families still living in the South via internal South Korean Army mail? Turns out the story is quite different.
As with all Asian cinema the action is quite visceral, the back-and-fore attempts to take and hold a single hill which is situated right on the 38th parallel are frantic, bloody and well filmed. The stress and strain of per-longed combat is well acted too.
Among the characters the film also has the cutest female sniper ever  Ok-bin Kim
The futility and horror of war to much to the fore-front of this movie, not for those who want a happy ending.

Deck Guns

Deck Guns

Whilst sorting out various boxes of photos my darling came across these, which i took at the Charlestown Shipwreck & Heritage Centre (not far from the Eden Project) in Cornwall some years ago.
Now I have build a few make-shift and improvised guns for my various armies, so these photos can be used as basic plans.

The centre is pretty good and Charlestown and it`s harbour has been used for films and TV - The Eagle Has Landed with Micheal Caine had the harbour scene where Oberst Steiner was offered to "volunteer" him and his men for the op, it was filmed here.
