Goumier platoon

Goumier Platoon

Honestly I`m not sure when these were prepped, based & undercoated - it could have been October 2024 or maybe just over last Christmas? Anyway the OCD part of my brain wouldn`t let them stay unfinished even though I have other stuff to do, so after finishing off those Sherman Crabs I had to do these before I can move on......

Ten Goumier and a French officer, a mix of Shellhole Scenics and Strelets (pack M151) suitable for Sicily, Italy and NWE.

The Strelets are noticably more slight, but once painted they blend in quite well (I was quite surprised) as with all plastics, there was a bit of fine flash (gun barrels) and mould lines which was difficult to clean effectively 😩 Also the detail isn`t as pronouced as on a comparable metal figure and frankly my painting can`t quite do them justice, but I am content with how they came out.

Shellhole Scenics

The grenade thrower has had is Sten pruned away and a rifle glued in its place

Strelets
The French officer wears his kepi with khaki cover, a tribal djellabah and traditional colonial Cheche scarf
The Tommy gunner is a good pose and the BAR is a nice touch

All together

  1. Maybe they might struggle to pass muster on parade, but they look a tough bunch I wouldn’t want to face on the battlefield 😉

    1. Thanks Geoff :) yes scary, wild men - I wouldn`t want them stalking me in the dark if I was a Jerry sentry :)

  2. Nicely done! I've been looking around for some in 15mm for a Montecassino scenario, but think it will probably have to be headswaps and Milliput.

    Regards, Chris.

    1. Thanks, many moons ago I had to do similar when trying to create Riffi warriors for Morocco in the 1920s - there was nothing comercially available. You could try the various SCW ranges out there, might at least get you figures in rexa (turban) to whom you can add cloaks from miliput

I’m not sure they’re still available, but they do crop up on eBay every now and then.
      Good luck,
      Geoff
